O prestigiado jornal Time publicou este texto :
"Fact or Fiction?:The filmmakers created a chilling, but fictional, documentary and made it seem all too real. Artisan Entertainment built a hugely successful publicity campaign by leaving the question -- real or Memorex? -- open. In fact, the Burkittsville Md. sheriff's department regularly receives calls from confused filmgoers offering to help search for the three missing students."
